Birth Doula Amber Brodersen Mid Missouri Sedalia

Why use a Birth Doula?

Bringing a new baby into the world is one of life's most important experiences. As a birth Doula I provide continuous emotional, physical and informational support throughout your pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.

Unlike nurses, midwives, or doctors, a Doula remains focused on you and your family's comfort and confidence the entire time I am with you. I do not perform medical tasks. From the time you call me and we decide it is time for me to join you in labor, until an hour or two after birth.

Whether you're planning a hospital birth, birth center birth, or home birth, every mother deserves to feel informed, supported, and respected.

Research Shows That Continuous Labor Support Can:

~ Increase satisfaction with your birth experience

~Reduce feelings of fear and anxiety during labor and birth

~Increase the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth

~Reduces the likelihood of cesarean birth

~Decreases the use of pain medication

~Shorten the length of labor for some women

~Improve partner involvement and confidence

According to a large review published by the Cochrane Collaboration, people who receive continuous Labor support are more likely to have a vaginal birth and less likely to require interventions during labor.

What I do as your Doula:

~Prenatal visits to discuss your goals and preferences

~Help creating a birth plan

~Education about labor, comfort measures, and birth options

~Guidance for partners and support people

~Ongoing phone and text support

During Labor

~Continuous support from active labor through birth

~Position suggestions to encourage labor progress

~Comfort measures such as breathing techniques, movement, massage, affirmation, and relaxation.

~Emotional reassurance and encouragement

~Support for your partner so they can confidently participate

~ I DO NOT do anything medical, no vital signs, no checking of your cervix.

After Birth

~immediate support during the first hours after birth

~Pictures of your new family (I am not a professional photographer).

~Breastfeeding and newborn support

~Resources and referrals when needed

~Follow up to process and celebrate your birth experience

You Do Not Have To Do This Alone!

Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, every birthing woman deserves compassionate support. My goal is to help you feel informed, respected and confident as you welcome your baby into the world.

My Journey

Hearth & Home Birth Services specializes in birth doula services, supporting natural pregnancies in mid Missouri. My faith-based approach is informed by professional experience.

I have undergone two DONA birth doula training's once in April 2002 and another in March 2025.  I worked as a Doula and midwives apprentice until I had my third baby and wanted to be a stay at home Mom. I still attended births, but they were mostly for friends.

I am a Mom of four. One born in the hospital, three born at home, two were water births.
